SlidesAI is an AI presentation maker that turns a topic, notes or a document into editable slides. It runs as a Google Slides add-on, a PowerPoint add-in, a ChatGPT GPT and a web app.

The Basic plan costs $0 and gives you 12 presentations per year. Paid plans start at $12 per month, or $10 per month billed yearly.

What is SlidesAI?

SlidesAI is an AI tool that drafts a slide deck from your text. It started as a Google Slides add-on. Its help center now lists four places where it works:

SlidesAI is made by Zesterv LLC. It is not a Google product, and it is not the same as Gemini in Google Slides.

The SlidesAI website and help center listed these features in October 2026:

• Input: a topic, a prompt, notes, a script, or an uploaded document such as a PDF or Word file. Document upload needs a paid plan.
• Outline step: you review the outline before the slides are built.
• AI editing: rewrite, shorten or expand text, remix a slide layout, and add new slides.
• Visuals: AI-generated images, stock image search, charts and diagrams.
• Languages: 100+ languages, with one-click translation in the PowerPoint add-in.
• Brand: brand kits, and generation onto your own PowerPoint Slide Master.
• Export: PowerPoint (.pptx), Google Slides and PDF.

The main point: the output is a native, editable deck in the app you already use. You do not import a file from a separate tool.

How SlidesAI works

SlidesAI describes the flow for the Google Slides add-on and the PowerPoint add-in in these steps:

1. Install. Add SlidesAI from the Google Workspace Marketplace or as a PowerPoint add-in. You sign in with a Google account.
2. Add your content. Type a topic or paste your text. On a paid plan you can upload a document.
3. Set the options. Choose the presentation type, audience, tone, language and slide count.
4. Review the outline. Change it before any slide is built.
5. Generate and edit. Pick a theme, generate the slides, then edit them like any other slide.

SlidesAI pricing

SlidesAI has three individual plans: Basic, Pro and Premium. These prices are from the SlidesAI pricing page on October 2, 2026, in US dollars, before tax.

The pricing page opens on yearly billing, so the first numbers you see are $10 and $20.83. SlidesAI lists the monthly prices as $12 and $25. Your checkout can show a local currency.

Each plan also has limits on text input, AI credits and uploads:

The text input limit applies to each presentation. On monthly billing the credits come as 10, 50 or 100 per month.

SlidesAI's own pages did not fully agree on the day of this check. The structured data on its homepage listed yearly totals of $100 and $200, which match the Team prices per user. The price table for individuals showed $120 and $250. Check the total at checkout before you pay.

What the SlidesAI limits mean in practice

• 1,000 characters is short. At about 6 characters per English word, that is roughly 170 words. A one-page brief does not fit on Basic. 6,000 characters is roughly 1,000 words.
• Pro counts presentations. $120 for 120 presentations is $1 each on yearly billing, if you use all of them. On monthly billing it is $12 for 10, or $1.20 each.
• AI credits are a second meter. SlidesAI says credits are used for image recommendation, slide remixes and its AI emoji tool.
• Document upload is a paid feature. On Basic you type or paste text.
• Your plan follows one Google account. SlidesAI says the plan is tied to the Gmail account you signed up with. Sign in with another account and you see Basic.

Extra costs and rules to plan for

• Team plans: from 2 members. On yearly billing, Pro is $100 per user per year ($8.33 per user per month) and Premium is $200 per user per year ($16.67 per user per month). The Institution tab showed no public prices.
• Tax: prices exclude tax. Paddle sells the subscription and adds tax at checkout.
• Refunds: you must email SlidesAI within 48 hours of the purchase, and you must have made fewer than 5 presentations. SlidesAI does not refund multiple months.
• Sales: on October 2, 2026, the pricing page showed a limited-time offer with a countdown and lower yearly totals ($84 for Pro and $125 for Premium). Sale prices change. Check the live page.
• Cancellation: in the SlidesAI web app, open your profile menu, select Your Account, then Cancel plan. This opens the Paddle portal, where you confirm. You keep access until the end of the billing period, then the account goes back to Basic.

SlidesAI review: strengths and limits

This review uses public sources: SlidesAI's product pages, pricing page, help center, terms of use and privacy policy. It is not a scored hands-on test.

Strengths

• It works where you already work. Google Slides, PowerPoint, ChatGPT and the web. No file import step.
• Native, editable slides. Text boxes, layouts and themes are normal slide objects. The PowerPoint add-in can generate onto your own Slide Master.
• A $0 plan. SlidesAI says Basic needs no card. You can test the tool before you pay.
• Outline step. You review the outline before the slides are built.
• Many languages. SlidesAI lists 100+ languages.
• Low entry price. Pro is $12 per month, or $120 per year.

Limits

• Input caps. 1,000 characters on Basic and 12,000 on Premium. Long reports need to be cut down or uploaded on a paid plan.
• Quotas on two meters. Basic and Pro count presentations per year, and every plan counts AI credits.
• Short refund window. 48 hours, and only with fewer than 5 presentations.
• Your text goes to OpenAI. The privacy policy says the text you enter is sent to OpenAI's servers for processing. Check your company or school policy first.
• Design depends on themes. SlidesAI fills theme layouts. Review articles from Plus AI and Deckary, which both sell rival tools, report generic or low-quality output that needs editing. We did not verify this.

What reviewers say: the SlidesAI homepage shows 14M+ installs and 2,000+ reviews. These figures are self-reported.

Third-party review articles report low Trustpilot scores and complaints about billing and cancellation. We could not open Trustpilot to verify the current score, so this page gives no number. Read the recent reviews yourself before you buy a yearly plan.

When SlidesAI still makes sense

SlidesAI is the right tool for some jobs. Stay with it when:

• The deck must be editable slide objects. You or your team change text boxes and layouts by hand in Google Slides or PowerPoint.
• You have a required PowerPoint template. The add-in can generate onto your Slide Master, so fonts and layouts stay in place.
• You make a few short decks per year. Basic gives you 12 presentations per year at no cost.
• Your input is short. A topic, a few notes or a short script fits inside the character limit.
• You teach or study. SlidesAI targets lessons and class projects, and Pro is its plan for students.
• You present in many languages. It lists 100+ languages.

When to pick a SlidesAI alternative

Look at another tool when one of these is true:

• You want slides that look designed, not a filled theme. GenPPT renders each slide as a full visual in a concept you choose.
• Your source is a long document. SlidesAI Basic has no document upload, and the top text limit is 12,000 characters. GenPPT, Gamma and Pitches.ai take file uploads.

You start from a prompt, a PDF, a Word document, a text file, images or a link. GenPPT researches the topic and drafts an outline.

SlidesAI has an outline step too. The difference is in the slides, the input and the price model:

Limits: slides are image-native designs. You change them in chat, and charts do not link to Excel. Check every number and claim yourself before you present.

SlidesAI has a $0 plan and a lower monthly price ($12 against $25). If you need editable text boxes or your own slide master, SlidesAI or Plus AI fits better.

Choose GenPPT when: you want a designed presentation from a topic or a document, built outside Google Slides and exported as PowerPoint or PDF. The .pptx file opens in PowerPoint, Google Slides and Keynote.

2. Pitches.ai: best for investor pitch decks

Pitches.ai is our sister product for founders. It reads company URLs, memos, PDFs and spreadsheets, then builds a 12-slide investor deck that you edit in chat.

SlidesAI lists pitch decks as one of many use cases. Pitches.ai does only this one job.

Each slide is a full-resolution image, so you change the words in chat, not in PowerPoint.

Pricing: generation and chat are free. PPTX/PDF export costs $49 per deck or $249/year.

Choose Pitches.ai when: the deck is for investors and a general text-to-slides tool does not give you the story.

3. Plus AI: best for PowerPoint and Google Slides users

Plus AI is the closest replacement if you want to stay inside Google Slides or PowerPoint. It is an add-on for both apps, like SlidesAI, and one subscription covers both.

Pricing: Basic is $15/user/month on monthly billing or $10/user/month billed annually. Pro is $25 or $20. Team is $40 or $30.

Every plan starts with a 7-day trial that includes 1,000 AI credits. The trial requires a card. The pricing page lists paid plans only.

Tradeoff: custom branding starts at the Team plan, and custom templates need an Enterprise plan.

Choose Plus AI when: policy requires native slides and you want a paid add-on with an API and SOC 2 Type II compliance.

4. Gamma: best for fast web-native drafts

Gamma makes presentations, documents, websites and social posts in a web-native format. It is quick for a first draft that you share as a link.

Pricing: you get 400 credits at sign-up at no cost, with up to 10 slides per prompt. Plus is $12/seat/month on monthly billing or $9/seat/month billed annually. Pro is $25 or $18.

Good to know: Gamma's Free plan lists import from PDF and PPTX, and export to PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides. Removing Gamma branding starts at Plus.

Tradeoff: Gamma is built for the browser first. Open the exported .pptx in PowerPoint and check the layout before you present.

5. Google Slides + Gemini: best for Workspace teams

Gemini in Google Slides is Google's own AI side panel. Google's help page says it can generate new slides in your current theme, generate images, write or rewrite content, summarize a presentation and reference your Drive files.

Pricing: Google lists Gemini in Slides on Business Standard and higher. Business Standard is $14/user/month with a one-year commitment. Gemini in Slides is not on Business Starter ($7/user/month).

On the day of this check, Google also showed a 10% introductory discount for the first year, limited to 20 users.

Google also says an eligible Google AI plan works. We did not check that price.

Tradeoff: Gemini helps with content and images inside your current theme. It does not replace a standalone design workflow.

Choose Gemini when: your team already pays for an eligible Workspace plan and wants AI help with no extra add-on.

6. SlidesAI: best when you only need text-to-slides

SlidesAI remains a good baseline for turning text into editable slides in Google Slides or PowerPoint. The $0 Basic plan lets you test it before you pay.

Pricing: Basic is $0 with 12 presentations per year. Pro is $12/month, or $10/month billed $120/year. Premium is $25/month, or $20.83/month billed $250/year.

Feature lists do not show slide quality. Run the same content through two or three tools and compare the results.

1. Pick one real topic or document. Remove confidential data first.
2. Use the same brief in each tool. Copy the template below.
3. Check the outline. It must follow your content, in an order that fits your audience.
4. Check the numbers. Compare three figures on the slides with the source.
5. Open the export. Look at the .pptx in PowerPoint or Google Slides for moved text and missing fonts.
6. Write down the cost. Count the presentations, credits or decks that the test used.
