Best AI PowerPoint Generators and Presentation Makers: 15 Tools Compared

The best AI presentation maker depends on the file you need at the end. This page compares 15 tools, and ChatGPT, by job, price, and output.

We make GenPPT and Pitches.ai. For that reason, this page shows where each fact comes from.

Last tested: 12 October 2026. On that date we ran one prompt and one source report through GenPPT, and through ChatGPT without an account. For the other tools, this page uses an earlier test by our founder with a different prompt, public reviews, and the vendor's own documents. Each section shows its source.

How we compared the tools

This page uses five types of evidence. Each claim shows which type it is.

We say when a video is sponsored or has affiliate links. We do not give scores: a score for a tool that we did not operate ourselves would be a guess.

The test: one prompt and one source report

We wrote a one-page report for a company that does not exist: Fernhollow Coffee Co. All numbers are invented, so a tool cannot find them on the internet. If a slide shows a number that is not in the report, the tool invented it.

  • Source report: PDF or plain text
  • Prompt, the same for each tool:
Text
Create an 8-slide quarterly business review for the leadership team
from the attached report. Slide 1 is the title. Include one chart of
monthly revenue, one slide with the three main risks, and one slide
with the Q4 plan. Use only the numbers in the report. Do not add data
from other sources.

The rules:

  1. We use the default settings of each tool.
  2. We upload the PDF. If the tool does not accept a file, we paste the plain text and write "the report below".
  3. We record the first result. We do not ask for corrections.
  4. We record the date, the plan, and the time.

We check 8 facts from the report on the slides:

#Fact in the report
1Q3 revenue was $1,321,000
2Revenue was 18% more than in Q2 ($1,120,000)
3Monthly revenue: July $412,000, August $438,000, September $471,000
4Active subscribers increased from 8,400 to 9,650
5Monthly churn was 3.1% (3.8% in Q2)
6Gross margin was 41% (43% in Q2)
7Three risks: coffee price +12%, roaster at 92% of capacity, two accounts give 38% of wholesale revenue
8Q4 plan: second roaster by 15 November for $180,000, prices +4% on 1 November, 3,000 gift boxes at $48, revenue target $1,500,000

GenPPT: 8 slides, all checked facts correct, slides are images

GenPPT, 12 October 2026: the test report as a PDF and the test prompt.

GenPPT asked one question first: use the file only, or search the web too. We chose "File only", which GenPPT recommends. It then wrote an outline and made a concept sheet, which is a preview of all slides. After one click on Generate, it made the full slides.

GenPPT, 12 October 2026: the 8 slides from the first result. We made no corrections.
Slide 3: the monthly revenue chart. The three values and the total agree with the report.

What was good:

  • All 8 checked facts were on the slides and were correct.
  • No slide had a number that was not in the report.
  • The deck had the 8 slides, the chart, the risks slide, and the Q4 plan slide that the prompt asked for.

What was not good:

  • You cannot edit the slides in PowerPoint. Each slide is one image. The chart is part of the image. To change a slide, you ask in the GenPPT chat before you export.
  • Slide 7 is weak. It shows one number and three labels that are not in the report ("Subscription growth", "Pricing discipline", "Operational execution"). GenPPT's own check found this slide and offered to make it again.
  • Slides 7 and 8 repeat slide 6. A person would use one slide for the Q4 plan.
  • The outline showed broken text. Where two dollar amounts were on one line, the text between them showed as a formula. This is a fault in our outline view. The slides did not have this fault.
  • The slide headers are not the same on all slides.
Slide 7: the weakest slide. The three labels at the bottom are not in the report.

ChatGPT without an account: no file

We pasted the report text, because the file upload needs a login. We added one sentence to the prompt: "Give me the result as a PowerPoint (.pptx) file."

ChatGPT without an account, 12 October 2026: no PowerPoint file.

ChatGPT answered in about 20 seconds that it could not make the file in that session. We then asked for the slides as text. Our first message got no reply, and we do not know the cause. After we sent the message again, ChatGPT showed 8 slides in the chat, with a chart and the correct numbers.

It also added 3 values that it calculated from the report, for example $144,000 for 3,000 gift boxes at $48. The calculations were correct, and it marked one of them as calculated. You cannot download these slides as a file.

To get a real file from ChatGPT, you must sign in. The steps are in Can ChatGPT make PowerPoints?.

Standalone AI deck generators

These tools make the deck in their own editor. You export a file, or you share a link.

GenPPT

Our test: 12 October 2026. See the test results.

GenPPT makes a full deck from a prompt, a link, or a file (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheet, text, or image). You approve the outline and a concept sheet before it makes the slides. You change slides in chat, then you export PPTX or PDF.

  • Good for: designed slides from a document, when the numbers must stay correct.
  • Not good for: slides that you must edit in PowerPoint, Google Slides add-in work, and live editing by a team.
  • Price: $1 trial for 3 days, card required. Then $25/month or $99/year for 20 decks per month. See GenPPT pricing.

Gamma

Gamma makes card-style decks that you edit in the browser and share as a link. Its pricing page lists export to PDF, PPTX, PNG, and Google Slides.

Gamma home page, 12 October 2026. The cards in the picture are Gamma's examples.
  • Good for: internal read-aheads, quick strategy documents, and decks that you share as a link.
  • Better than GenPPT: a free plan with 400 credits and no card. Text that you can edit. A lower price on monthly billing ($12 against $25).
  • Our founder's test: Gamma made a 10-slide deck in about 45 seconds. The layout was like a web page that you scroll. The export to PDF, PowerPoint, Google Slides, and PNG operated correctly.
  • What reviewers found: In a Tooltester review (4 February 2026), the reviewer pasted the text of a client quarterly review and asked for 8 slides. He says that the deck took a couple of minutes. It had AI images, text boxes, and some graphs, and he edited them like normal slides. He also says that the free plan adds Gamma branding and that the credits go quickly. In an AIChief comparison (9 May 2026), Gamma made an outline first, then slides with statistic and comparison layouts.
  • Price: Plus $9/seat/month on annual billing, or $12 monthly. Pro $18/seat/month on annual billing.
  • Before you buy: these reviews do not show the exported PPTX file in PowerPoint. Open the exported file before you present.
Our founder's test: the outline step in Gamma.
Our founder's test: the deck that Gamma made.
Our founder's test: the Gamma export, opened in PowerPoint.

If you compare the two, see our Gamma alternative page.

Presentations.AI

Presentations.AI makes business decks with templates that adapt to the content. Its pricing page lists PPTX and PDF export.

Presentations.AI home page, 12 October 2026. The prompt box is on the home page.
  • Good for: business decks that need a template system more than free design.
  • Better than GenPPT: a free Starter plan with 100 credits. Slides that you can edit.
  • Our founder's test: You select the audience, the writing style, and the theme. The tool then took some minutes for analysis. The slides had timelines and charts, and new content did not break the design. The editor was hard to use at times.
  • What reviewers found: In a five-tool comparison by Dr. Jackei (14 August 2025, in Chinese), a free account with no card made a 5-slide deck a short time after he selected Generate. The title slide had a fitting image, and the later slides were mostly icons. He put it behind Gamma, but called it usable. He did not test the export.
  • Price: Pro $20/month, billed annually ($240 per year). Prices are for the US and change by country.

Decktopus

Decktopus takes you from a topic to a deck in steps. Its pages also list a tool to practice your delivery.

Decktopus home page, 12 October 2026. The deck in the picture is Decktopus's example.
  • Good for: beginners who want guidance from the topic to the finished deck.
  • Better than GenPPT: presenter practice in the same tool.
  • Our founder's test: Decktopus was the easiest tool to use in that test. It made an outline and then a basic deck in less than 1 minute. The changes that you can make were few, mostly to the text.
  • What reviewers found: In a SolveBase tutorial (26 April 2025, with an affiliate link), a prompt with only a topic gave a 10-slide outline. The free plan did not make the deck because it had no credits, so the reviewer changed to Pro. He exported a PPTX file and opened it in PowerPoint, where it looked almost the same as the web version. The price on screen then was $24.99/month with 750 credits.
  • Price: Pro $24.99/month, or $9.99/month on annual billing. No free plan on the pricing page.
Our founder's test: the prompt in Decktopus.
Our founder's test: the outline from Decktopus.

MagicSlides

MagicSlides makes a deck draft from a topic, a file, a URL, or a YouTube video.

MagicSlides home page, 12 October 2026. The prompt box and the source types are on the home page.
  • Good for: a class, webinar, or explainer deck from content that you have.
  • Better than GenPPT: more export formats. Its paid plans list PPTX, PDF, PNG, JPG, and HTML.
  • Our founder's test: On the free plan, image generation was off and the limit was 10 slides. The 10-slide prompt gave only 4 slides, and some content was on top of other content.
  • What reviewers found: In an AI Tool Corner review (3 December 2025, with a link to MagicSlides), the reviewer gave the transcript of a YouTube video and asked for 20 slides. The slides came in less than a minute, and the content followed the structure of the video. One image that he made again had text that was not readable. He mentions the PPTX download but does not open the file.
  • Price: Premium $29/month, billed monthly, for 50 presentations per month. The pricing page does not list the limits of a free plan.
Our founder's test: the MagicSlides settings before generation.
Our founder's test: the deck that MagicSlides made.

Alai

Alai makes presentations and reports with a brand look.

Alai home page, 12 October 2026. The report in the picture is Alai's example.
  • Good for: decks and reports with a brand look.
  • Better than GenPPT: a free plan (with a watermark).
  • What reviewers found: We found no independent video that shows a deck from Alai. In a written test by aitoolssme.com (test date 20 April 2026, the site uses affiliate links), the slides were AI-made images, so the tester could not edit single elements, and the result did not agree with the template that she selected. This test is older than Alai 2.0 from June 2026. Alai says that its export is editable. We found no independent check of that.
  • Price: Plus $20/month, billed monthly. All plans list PDF and PPT export.

Pitches.ai

Pitches.ai is our product. The test prompt is a business review, so Pitches.ai is not in the test.

Pitches.ai makes investor pitch decks only. You paste a company URL or upload a memo, and it writes a 12-slide investor story.

Pitches.ai home page, 12 October 2026. You paste the company URL to start.
  • Better than GenPPT: the pitch-deck structure. Generation is free.
  • Price: export $49 per deck, or $249/year.

Add-ins for PowerPoint and Google Slides

These tools work in the app that you use now. There is no export step, and the slides stay editable. Use them when your company has a fixed template or an IT policy.

Plus AI

Plus AI is an add-in for PowerPoint and Google Slides. It makes and changes slides in your open deck with your theme.

Plus AI home page, 12 October 2026. The cards show the panels of the add-in.
  • Good for: companies with slide masters, review steps, and security rules for PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • Better than GenPPT: text boxes that you can edit. Your company template. A lower price on monthly billing ($15 against $25).
  • Our founder's test: Plus AI operated in Google Slides. The prompt gave an outline with no research step, then slides in about 2 minutes, which was one of the slowest times in that test. The slides were editable in Google Slides immediately. The content quality was average.
  • What reviewers found: In an Artturi Jalli comparison (4 December 2025, with affiliate links), the PowerPoint add-in made an outline first and then the deck in about 2 minutes. The result was a normal PowerPoint file that he edited. He found the slides too wordy, and he says that the trial needs a card and bills automatically if you do not cancel. In a Jason West tutorial (15 October 2025, with a link to Plus AI), a prompt of 1,810 characters gave a deck with charts and AI images in about 1 minute.
  • Price: Basic $15/user/month monthly, or $10/user/month on annual billing. Pro $25 monthly, or $20 annual. The 7-day trial needs a payment card.

Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint

Copilot works in PowerPoint. It makes, changes, and reviews slides, and it can use your company files in Microsoft 365.

Microsoft's page for Copilot in PowerPoint, 12 October 2026.
  • Good for: companies that use PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams with Microsoft 365 rules.
  • Better than GenPPT: it works in the PowerPoint file. It can use your company data and templates.
  • Our founder's test: Copilot made a PowerPoint file from a chat request and gave a link to open it.
  • What reviewers found: In a tutorial by The Professor-AI (12 February 2026), a general prompt gave a first deck. A second prompt with more detail and a design theme gave a more focused deck with speaker notes. When he asked Copilot for a rewrite, it gave the new text, but he had to paste it into the slide himself. In the Artturi Jalli comparison (4 December 2025, with affiliate links), Copilot made an outline first and then native slides that he edited.
  • Price: an add-on to a Microsoft 365 plan, paid yearly. $21/user/month for businesses of up to 300 users, or $30 for enterprises.
Our founder's test: Copilot gives a link to the PowerPoint file.

Gemini in Google Slides

Gemini works in Google Slides. Google's pages say that it makes a presentation plan first and then editable slides, with files from Drive as sources.

Google's page for Slides, 12 October 2026. The picture shows the Gemini panel.
  • Good for: teams that need Google Slides collaboration and Drive files more than a separate tool.
  • Better than GenPPT: slides that a team edits together in Google Slides. Drive files as sources.
  • Our founder's test: At the time of that test, Gemini made one slide at a time and did no research. The review from August 2026 below shows that it now makes full decks.
  • What reviewers found: In a Thoughts Brewing tutorial (7 August 2026), the reviewer gave a short prompt for a guide to juggling. Gemini asked for a style and sources, then showed a plan to approve. The deck took about 5 to 6 minutes. The text, shapes, and images were separate elements that he edited. Some text was small, and one image showed a person with no head.
  • Price: Workspace Business Standard is $14/user/month with a one-year commitment. Gemini in Slides is not in Workspace Starter. Google AI Pro also has it.
Our founder's test: Gemini in Google Slides made one slide at a time.

SlidesAI

SlidesAI makes slides from text. It is an add-on for Google Slides and PowerPoint, and it also has a standalone web app in the browser.

SlidesAI home page, 12 October 2026. The slide in the picture is SlidesAI's example.
The SlidesAI web app editor. Screenshot from SlidesAI, 13 October 2026.
  • Good for: class notes, internal summaries, and simple text-to-slides work.
  • Better than GenPPT: a free Basic plan with 12 presentations per year. It works in Google Slides.
  • Web app: paste text or upload a document in the browser, with no add-in. You edit the slides there, then present, share a link, or export PPTX or PDF. We did not test the web app; these facts are from slidesai.io (read 14 October 2026).
  • Our founder's test: SlidesAI asked for the type of presentation, the audience, and the writing style. Then came the outline, the theme, and the selection of real or AI images, all in Google Slides. The slides had a clear structure. The images were relevant but generic, and the design was not as good as the setup steps.
  • What reviewers found: In a Tech Tip Daily tutorial (22 December 2025), the reviewer used the free Basic plan and asked for 8 slides for college students. Generation took about 2 minutes. He called the result professional and wanted larger text. In the AIChief comparison (9 May 2026), SlidesAI asked for the type, tone, language, and template, made an outline, and then put the slides in Google Slides. The reviewer says that this is more steps than Gamma or Canva.
  • Price: Pro $10/month, billed $120 per year.

ChatGPT for PowerPoint

Our test: ChatGPT without an account, 12 October 2026. See the test results.

OpenAI's help pages say that the ChatGPT add-in makes and changes editable slides in PowerPoint, and that it is on all plans.

  • Good for: changes to a deck that you have, in your company template.
  • What reviewers found: In a United Top Tech tutorial (24 May 2026), the add-in made the 5 slides that the reviewer asked for, with a pie chart, a graph, and an image. He says that each element was editable. In a Technoholic comparison (9 March 2026), a normal chat on the Pro plan gave slide text first. After a second request it gave a PowerPoint file, which the reviewer called plain.

Our guide has the steps and the limits: Can ChatGPT make PowerPoints?

Design and presentation suites

These tools do more than AI generation. You can use them when the deck is one part of a larger job.

Canva Magic Studio

Canva has presentation templates, brand kits, stock assets, and AI tools in one editor.

Canva's page for its AI presentation maker, 12 October 2026. The deck in the picture is Canva's example.
  • Good for: decks that share assets with social posts, event graphics, or brand material.
  • Better than GenPPT: a free plan. A large template library. Slides that you can edit, and a team can edit together.
  • Our founder's test: Canva made a 10-slide deck in about 1 minute. It asked some questions first and then made an outline. It did no research step. It used too much of the orange colour that the prompt asked for. The export to PowerPoint and PDF was clean.
  • What reviewers found: In the AIChief comparison (9 May 2026), Canva made an outline first, gave several design options, and then opened about 10 slides in the full editor. The reviewer liked the spacing and selected Canva as the best balance of the tools in the video. In an Artturi Jalli comparison (4 December 2025, with affiliate links), Canva made 9 pages in about 30 to 40 seconds, and the reviewer found the content generic.
  • Price: Pro US$144 per year for one person. Canva shows prices in your local currency.
Our founder's test: Canva's questions and the outline.
Our founder's test: the deck in the Canva editor.

Beautiful.ai

Beautiful.ai has Smart Slides, which keep the layout in order while you add content.

Beautiful.ai home page, 12 October 2026. The slides in the picture are Beautiful.ai's examples.
  • Good for: sales, marketing, and operations teams that make the same types of deck again and again.
  • Better than GenPPT: you control each slide, and the layout stays aligned. Brand controls for teams.
  • Our founder's test: The design of the result was below what our founder expected, and the text was too long for some slides. The AI functions needed a paid plan.
  • What reviewers found: The 2026 videos that we found are sponsored by Beautiful.ai. In an independent comparison by Sofía Valiente (6 October 2025, in Spanish), the result was clean and serious, but she found the options limited and put it third of three tools. In a sponsored video by Luis Urrutia (16 May 2026), a prompt for a coffee subscription pitch deck gave 11 slides.
  • Price: Pro $14.50/month on annual billing, or $45 monthly. Team $40/user/month on annual billing. The 14-day trial needs a payment card.
Our founder's test: the prompt in Beautiful.ai.

Pitch

Pitch is a slide workspace for teams, with comments, shared templates, and viewer analytics. Its AI can make and change slides.

Pitch home page, 12 October 2026. The prompt box is on the home page.
  • Good for: teams that work on the deck together after the story is known.
  • Better than GenPPT: live editing by a team. Analytics for shared decks. A free plan.
  • What reviewers found: In an Umair Butt tutorial (24 January 2026), a pitch deck prompt gave slides in seconds. He edited the text with a double-click and shared the deck by link. In the Dr. Jackei comparison (14 August 2025), a free account made 6 slides quickly, but the first slide was plain with no image, and some images did not agree with the text. He put it last for design among the tools that he had shown to that point.
  • Price: Plus $10/month, paid yearly. The free plan has no PPTX export.

Prezi

Prezi puts the presentation on one canvas that zooms and moves between topics.

Prezi home page, 12 October 2026.
  • Good for: keynotes, class talks, and sales stories that become better with movement.
  • Better than GenPPT: a format that is not linear, for live talks. A free Basic plan.
  • Our founder's test: Prezi AI made a presentation with zoom movement between topics. Our founder did not like the movement when he browsed and edited the slides. An export to PPTX is possible.
  • What reviewers found: In "Prezi AI vs Reality" by The Prezenter (16 June 2025), a presentation designer who has used Prezi since 2009 asked for 20 slides and gave his script as a Word file. The AI added its own text and put the content on a photo without order. He said that the result was not good, and he made his own version in about 25 minutes. In the Dr. Jackei comparison (14 August 2025), Prezi made 5 topic frames and a summary frame with zoom transitions in a short time.
  • Price: Standard $7/month on annual billing. Plus $19/month. Premium $29/month.
Our founder's test: the prompt in Prezi.
Our founder's test: a frame that Prezi AI made.

How to do the test with your own document

The prices and feature lists do not tell you how a tool works with your content. A 10-minute test does.

  1. Use a real document of 1 or 2 pages with numbers that you know.
  2. Use the same prompt in each tool. You can copy our prompt.
  3. Compare each number on the slides with the document.
  4. Export the file and open it on the computer that you will present from.
  5. Try to change one word and one chart value. This shows if the file is editable.

AI presentation maker FAQs

What is the best AI presentation maker?

There is no one best tool. Use Plus AI or Microsoft Copilot if the slides must stay editable in PowerPoint. Use Gamma or Canva to start without payment. Use Pitch or Canva if a team edits the deck together. Use GenPPT for designed slides from a document: in our test on 12 October 2026 it put all 8 checked facts on the slides correctly.

How did you compare the tools?

We ran one prompt and one source report through GenPPT and through ChatGPT without an account on 12 October 2026. For the other tools we use an earlier test by our founder (one prompt in each tool, first published on StoryChief in October 2024 and updated to September 2026), public reviews, and the vendor's pricing and help pages. Each section links its source, and the evidence table shows the dates.

Which AI PowerPoint generator keeps slides editable?

Add-ins make native slides, so each text box stays editable: Plus AI, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini in Google Slides, SlidesAI, and the ChatGPT add-in. GenPPT and Pitches.ai export each slide as an image, so you make changes in chat before you export.

What is the best free AI PowerPoint generator?

Canva has a free plan. Gamma gives 400 credits at signup with no card. SlidesAI Basic gives 12 presentations per year, and Presentations.AI Starter gives 100 credits. GenPPT has no free plan: it starts with a $1 trial for 3 days, card required.

Can ChatGPT make a PowerPoint?

Not without an account. In our test on 12 October 2026, ChatGPT without a login did not make a file and showed the slides in the chat only. OpenAI's help pages say that signed-in users can make editable slides with the ChatGPT for PowerPoint add-in. Read Can ChatGPT make PowerPoints? for the steps.

How much does an AI presentation maker cost?

Entry paid plans are between $7 and $30 per month. Prezi Standard is $7, Gamma Plus is $9, and Plus AI, SlidesAI Pro, and Pitch Plus are $10, all on annual billing. GenPPT is $25 per month or $99 per year after a $1 trial. We read these prices on 2 October 2026.

Can AI make a PowerPoint from a PDF or a Word document?

Yes. GenPPT made the test deck from a one-page PDF. MagicSlides and Microsoft Copilot also list documents as a source. Always compare the slides with the source, because a tool can drop or change a number. See how to turn a PDF into a PowerPoint with AI.

Is Tome still an AI presentation maker?

No. Tome stopped its presentation product in April 2025. See our Tome alternative page.

How long does GenPPT take?

In our test on 12 October 2026 it took 2 min 34 s to show the concept sheet, then 1 min 21 s to make the 8 full slides after one click. That is about 4 minutes. For the other tools, the times that reviewers give are from some seconds (Pitch) to about 5 to 6 minutes (Gemini in Google Slides).
